Johanness is an innovative Natural Scientist (Water Resources Science) with over 13 years of experience in Namibia’s water sector. Specializing in environmental microbiology, he focuses on harmful algae, water quality, pollution control, and climate change. As Head of Research at NamWater, he leads studies on water treatment, corrosion, cyanobacteria management, and desalination. He has conducted research for EIF, CRIDF, MEFT, GIZ, AfDB, and AfWASA. Currently, he chairs the Global Water Partnership Namibia. With a PhD in Microbiology (Stellenbosch University), MSc in Environment and Water Science (University of the Western Cape), and additional qualifications in aquatic science and business administration, he has published over five peer-reviewed papers.
